atourworst.org

Domain

Atourworst.org is one of many domains that I had registered in hopes of having a personal site. Many of them served as a wasteland to various files, photos and blogs. All except atourworst.org have expired and been taken over by squatters. I started AOW in hopes of advancing my design (albeit coding, since I hate graphic design) and programming skills (which obviously are not present/public.) I first got into website design in 1999, and from there had several subdomains which were hosted at various sites (hell, one of them is still up and kicking. Fest your eyes on hell itself!) through the internet. I can still name them (and not because I saw the other site of mine!)

Atourworst.org was registered through GoDaddy in July of 2005, and it will live until I forget to pay the renewal fees. The name stems from an album, At Our Worst, by Evergreen Terrace. There is no specific reason as to why I chose that title, aside from enjoying the band and their music.

This website, along with other personal websites and projects, is hosted at Holdfire Network. The current plan it’s hosted under is the Alpha Reseller which provides me with 5GB storage and 195GB of transfer. If you’re interested in the services, use the promotional code HFNET to receive 25% off any annual hosting order.

Atourworst is powered entirely by Wordpress. Of course wordpress is powered by PHP and MySQL but that’s a different story. The plug-ins used are all listed at my Plugins Used page. Get Shorty is used to replace longer URIs to short links stemming from my website. This is to make sure that those links are always available, since it’s installed on my server. I’m also able to manage and see how many people click on them.

I also use Mint to track all of my stats from Host names (and how many times people obsess over my site!) to what posts/pages are viewed the most. I also use Peppers from Peppermint Tea. Some of those peppers range from XXX Strong Mint, Pathstats, Outclicks and more.

The current design (1/2008) was inspired by Red Crown Studio. To fulfill some of my non-existent web standards, I use CSS Tidy to optimize my CSS coding. You can view it by going to atourworst.org/csstidy. Feel free to use it, as well as bookmark it.

That’s not it though, there’s more! I’ve recently wanted to keep track of all of my media be it virtual (eg: MP3s) or CDs so I created a media shelf to store everything online. It’s powered by, you guessed it, Media Shelf (2.0). Which reminds me to get off my arse and get the rest of my media up…
