Use music.com to promote your music.

We all know that for the past year (or more) Myspace has been the main source for bands promoting their music and obtaining fans. But personally I’ve grown weary of having to deal with Myspace for the soul fact that I detest having to deal with the ridiculous load times, poor coding (especially when the band “customizes” their profile), ridiculous spam comments, and just myspace in general.

Even though I realize that nowadays people don’t want to pay for a domain name, and hosting so their next best option is looking for someone else to provide them services for free. Musicians Wanted at Music.com - Get Discovered: offers artists to have blogs, an artist profile, band member profiles, photos, an event calendar as well a other features. I think the biggest feature they have is that you’re able to upload your music, and sell it through the site.

I haven’t looked at it in detail, but apparently you cannot listen (or stream) to the music you might find on their site. Their FAQ stats that Music.com is just a hub for searching out music information, rating it, reviewing it, and connecting with other users. They do mention that they do plan on integrating the ability to listen to your favorite music online, so if you’re looking for a means of streaming music you might want to look elsewhere.

But for a band this might be something to look into considering it can’t help to expand your listener base by joining a website geared towards providing such. Hell, you might even be able to sell some tracks and whatnot through their site. I tried to look up more information in regards to that, but I wasn’t able to find anything. Either way, I sifted through some of the pages and the site seems to be pretty nice. I can’t say I’ll refer to it in the future, but that’s because I am ridiculously picky with the music I listen to and why I only listen to bands I’ve been listening to for ages!

Do you have any idea what a bump key is?

I know I didn’t until I had read an op about it online, and decided to go ahead and watch the video for it. I knew that such keys existed for cars, as I remember someone telling me this about a year ago. He had mentioned that you can actually go on ebay, and buy a “universal” key that would work with any car. Reason is that the shape of it doesn’t contain any of the edges that are usually unique to keylocks. I think this was brought up because the mechanic had a set of keys like this, and had used one on his car since he didn’t leave the mechanic his personal set of keys.

So it never really occurred to me that you can obtain these for houses. So anyway, I was watching the video for it over at Brickhouse Security and it’s honestly weird to think that if I wanted to get into any house I wanted, whether it be as a “hobby” (you’ll get that if you watch the video) or to break into the house. Hell, what’s to stop someone at houses? Why not a store?

Anyway, right now my house currently uses a keypad for our front door. I’ve been using one since I was about nine years old because I would constantly leave my house keys at school, or at home which obviously would be a problem for when I got home. After my parents moved out of their old house about a year ago, they still decided to keep it and even took it out of the old door, and replaced it with the standard deadbolt (the mechanism works with the deadbolt to unlock the door as opposed to a doorknob. We have the doorknob glued so that it doesn’t get locked on accident, which would screw us over.) So almost 11 years later and I still don’t rely on a house key. I had a key for our patio since I moved back home, but I ended up losing it along with my Aqua Teen Hunger Force lanyard (which I had for almost 4 years!) and now I resort to using the deadbolt.

biometric keypad But hello, I’d rather spend $200 and get a Biometric Door lock or a “Bump Proof Lock“, because it’s all about feeling super high-tech. Another reason why I bought a fingerprint reader from Microsoft for passwords.. Because I feel like James Bond. But on a more serious note, I’m definitely going to see what my friend Amy thinks about this. I know her house has been broken into a few times years back, and this might help out somewhat, though honestly in her case, it was more so their windows being broken as you can easily get into them since the house is just one story.

Even though this is a sponsored post, feel free to share your thoughts on it, I’m honestly interested to see what other people have to say.

Why I still use Payperpost.

The past two days I’ve actually participated in writing up some entries for Payperpost. I know I’ve complained about it in the past, but seeing as though I have extra time I figured why not make a few posts. I’m not going to post 5 entries (after 5 non-ppp entries.) I’m going to do one post-per-day. So far I’ve made about $47, and I have another $20.50 coming in once their dates hit.

Since there’s a 30 day wait limit, I figured to see something coming in daily, why not just do one post a day, that way once I hit the thirty mark for the first entry, every day after that I should get paid, pending how quickly posts get approved. But regardless of getting paid, I think one of the biggest advantages of ppp is the blog marketing aspect of it. With the links you’re using in your entries, you’ll be able to increase your page, alexa and technorati ranking. I realize that people will disagree with using PPP for such a thing, but for someone like me, I chose to only take PPP opportunities that I can personally relate to and offer more of an honest opinion.

Don’t expect me to write about doing your taxes with some software only for the UK area, that’s for sure! But despite my many complaints about it, I’ve come to the conclusion that as long as it’s interesting, something that’s not complete and utter crap, and done in moderation than it’s okay to do.

With the money I’ll be getting in for it, I probably will end up using it to pay for various bills I have, and also for leisure spending. Since I’m no longer frugal with my money, it’ll most definitely go towards a few things on ebay I’ve had my eye on getting for awhile, and probably going to see more movies. I kind of like the idea of going to the movies every weekend, and even just one post, would cover the cost for one ticket (and possibly even 1/4 of another ticket if I’m feeling gracious enough to “donate” some to Mark!)

I really want the Blackberry Pearl.

blackberry_red.gif My boyfriend Mark has had his Blackberry Pearl (in black) since about September I think? I mean, hell, he was so excited to get it from T-Mobile that he stayed home from work to sign for the package. Since he’s had it I’ve also been able to play around with it, and needless to say I’ve been dying to get my hands on a Blackberry Pearl, more specifically the red one.

The one thing I’ve liked most about the Blackberry phones are that various features that most of them come with. With the Blackberry, it’s aesthetically pleasing. I love the size of them; They’re not too small and not too goudy. Granted, it’s a little more difficult when web browsing and instant messaging, but it’s not small enough where you have to have to phone 1″ from your face. I’ve been looking through

My favorite thing about smartphones though is basically the ability to browse the internet and have instant messaging capabilities, as well as an integrated e-mail client. The most useless feature that I know I couldn’t leave without are the games. I have this weird affinity for some of the games, and the fact that the 1.3 mp camera is actually, contrary to popular belief, worth using. Either way I’ve been looking at Blackberry phones at wirefly.com, in hopes of finding one for Cingular that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
